Rotary Honors Kimberly Lopez As Student Of The Year

The Rotary Club of Los Alamos recently honored Los Alamos High School junior Kimberly Lopez as a Student of the Year based upon her academic achievements and her commitment to service. Particularly noteworthy is her work on the LAHS Student Council and with the New Mexico Association of Student Councils and the planning of its annual conference in Los Alamos earlier this year. Lopez also is an active member of DECA, which prepares leaders and entrepreneurs for careers and education in marketing, finance, hospitality, management, and other business areas. Through this involvement, she has worked to address the needs of senior citizens.  She is joined here  from left, by LAHS science teacher and student council advisor Joanna Ploeger, whom Lopez named as her most influential teacher; parents Chris and Doris Lopez; and Rotarian Vince Chiravelle, presenting the award.
