Tri-M Productions News:
Tri-M Productions will perform Rodgers and Hammerstein’s classic of America musical theater, “Oklahoma!” opening Nov. 21 for one weekend only at the big St. Francis Auditorium of the New Mexico Museum of Art on the Santa Fe Plaza. Directed by Marilyn Barnes with music direction by Kathlene Ritch, this production features wonderful choreography by Laura Orozco Garrett (formerly of Moving Arts Española and now Keshet Dance and Center for the Arts in Albuquerque).
This 1943 musical, building on the innovations of the earlier “Show Boat,” epitomized the development of the “book musical”, a musical play in which the songs and dances are fully integrated into a well-made story, with serious dramatic goals, that is able to evoke genuine emotions other than amusement. In addition, “Oklahoma!” features musical themes, or motifs, that recur throughout the work to connect the music and story. It was also the first musical written by the duo of Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II, and ran for a then unprecedented 2,212 performances. While the story is perhaps dated, the themes are still relevant.
We are so pleased to have the wonderful Jessica Pacheco take on the lead role of ‘Laurey,” and we are really happy to see the return to our stage of the fantastic Ian Noble as ‘Curly’ (‘Emcee’ in “Cabaret” and ‘Melchior’ in “Spring Awakening”.). We’ve got the return of Tri-M stalwarts Marina Heaney (‘Ado Annie’) and Jensen Klodnicki (‘Ali Hakim’), and we get to introduce new stars of Adrian Lopez as ‘Will Parker,’ and Marco Marino Baca as ‘Jud Fry.’ Gail Funk is ‘Aunt Eller,’ and David Foushee returns to our stage as ‘Andrew Carnes.’ The cast of 19 feature lots of ‘Farmers and Cowmen’ singing and dancing to many well-known Rodgers and Hammerstein songs. Kathlene Ritch will be leading a live orchestra of 8 instrumentalists and a pit chorus of 5 more singers.
Reserved Seating tickets are available for $56, $40, and $26 either at the door or on-line thru the Tri-M Productions website at www.trimsantafe.org or directly to https://cur8.com/projects/trimsantafe . Showtimes at 7 p.m. Thursday and Friday Nov. 21 and 22, and 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday Nov. 23 and 24.
