Rockfall Mitigation Project On Main Hill Road Runs Long

Although N.M. 502 was expected to reopen at 3 p.m. today, Los Alamos County was notified that the New Mexico Department of Transportation (NMDOT) rockfall mitigation project was still underway late today and Main Hill Road didn’t re-open as scheduled. Motorists should use the truck route to exit Los Alamos. The Main Hill Road should be avoided at this time. The project began Monday and is scheduled to last 10 days. Motorists coming up to Los Alamos should take the Truck Route between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. or possibly later if crews run into issues that delay their work schedule), Monday through Friday and 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. or so Saturday. Proceed with caution around the area and stay alert for NMDOT crews and vehicles. Photo by Carol A. Clark/ladailypost.com
