Road Conditions And Delayed Openings Announced

Staff Report:

Snow has blanketed the area and the National Weather Service predicts up to 4 inches before the storm passes. Today’s high is near 38 with a northwest wind 15 to 20 mph. Tonight’s low is around 16. 

Delayed Openings

Los Alamos National Laboratory is on a delayed opening today. Employees with children in school or carpooling should arrive at 10 a.m.; otherwise at 10:45 a.m. Employees already at the Lab are instructed to remain there.

UNM-Los Alamos is on a 2-hour delay this morning.

Los Alamos Public Schools also is on a 2-hour delay.

Los Alamos County is open but employees are encouraged to exercise caution and take the time necessary to arrive at work safely. The Atomic City Transit is running on a regular schedule today.

Road Conditions

The Truck Route is open but snow packed — motorists are urged to use caution as hazardous driving conditions exist.

The Main Hill Road is open but with just one lane in some areas and conditions are dangerous. Motorists are advised to avoid the Main Hill Road unless absolutely necessary.
