United Church News:

Rick Cormier will be a special guest to teach everyone drumming at “August Sunday Nights” at the United Church of Los Alamos, 2525 Canyon Road.

As an innovative take on Vacation Bible School, Children’s Minister Laura Loving is offering “August Sunday Nights” for the whole family, not just for children.

Each August Sunday, plan on two hours, 5-7 p.m., packed with games, creative activities, food and Bible stories from the Acts of the Apostles, hence the theme, LIGHTS, CAMERA, ACTION!

Since there will be SUPPER, please register by contacting Rev. Laura Loving 262.853.4138, or  ucoffice@unitedchurchla.org.

About Rick Cormier

Cormier has been a drummer since age 10. He spent his 20s playing guitar and writing original songs and his 30s writing instrumental music on synthesizers. In 1979, he auditioned for the chorus of the musical, “HAIR”, but was given the lead role. He has hosted free community drum circles since the 90s. Experience Drums magazine named Cormier “Community Saint” for his work with community drum circles and for teaching group drumming in high schools, elementary schools and developmentally handicapped young people.

Cormier also is the co-founder of the Eastern Massachusetts Rhythm Festival. He has drummed for rock bands, blues bands and kirtan bands. He is the drummer for several bands in Santa Fe. He has been a guest drummer in Buddhist temples, Sikh Gurudwaras and Hindu temples in India.

Cormier is the author of six non-fiction books told with humor, such as “MIXED NUTS or What I’ve Learned Practicing Psychotherapy” and “American Baapu: India Through My Eyes” and “Freestyle Community Drum Circles”, now in its second edition.
