PAJARITO TRAILS FESTIVAL News:

It’s time to sign up for the 8th annual Pajarito Trail Festival set for Saturday, Oct 4. Registration is available for the 10k and 15 mile races at https:////pajaritotrailfest.com/

Held just as the fall colors arrive, runners will traverse the resplendent Los Alamos singletrack. All runners will circumnavigate the ski hill, climbing their way to the top of Pajarito Mountain for views of the Valles Caldera and the Los Alamos townsite. The race continues down a singletrack to the ski hill lodge, where the 10k runners will stop and the 15 mile runners will continue out through Canada Bonita to the Guaje Overlook.

Proceeds from the races benefits local non-profit organizations: Pajarito Environmental Education Center, Pajarito Mountain Ski Club, Southwest Nordic Ski Club and the Volunteer Task Force.

Tuesday, Sept. 9, there will be a trail cleanup on Pajarito Mountain. Meet at the parking lot immediately above the townsite at 5 p.m. and bring gloves, pants and sturdy shoes. Shears and pruners will be provided.

If you are interested in volunteering or sponsoring the race this year, contact race director Zack Baker at zackbaker@gmail.com.
