A herd of elk climbing a snowy hill near History Grove at Valles Caldera National Preserve. Registration is now open for the ranger-led Wildlife Photography program at 9 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 5. Registered participants will meet at the Ranger Station, located in the Cabin District approximately 4 miles down the Valles Caldera entrance road. Learn the basics of wildlife photography and compositional recommendations all while exploring Valles Caldera and the Jemez Mountain region. Participants need to bring their own camera for this program. The program duration is 2-5 hours depending on the trail or area visited, with distances of 1-5 miles hiked. This program will occur on the first Sunday of every month. Spots are limited, and registration is required.
