Online registration for kindergarten at Aspen, Barranca Mesa, Chamisa, Mountain and Piñon elementary schools and the Los Alamos Online Learning Academy (LAOLA) is now available through the Los Alamos Public Schools (LAPS) website.

Registration is an important step to ensure students have a spot for kindergarten for the upcoming school year.

LAPS uses SchoolMint Registration for this process each school year. The system is fully secure and environmentally conscientious and allows the district to verify all student information prior to the start of the new school year. The registration system also allows for the electronic signing of all annual permission forms. 

Admission to kindergarten as required by New Mexico State Statute (N.M. Stat. Ann. § 22-13-3), shall be made solely on the basis of chronological age. Children who turn five before 12:01 a.m. (MDT) Sept. 1, 2023 are eligible to be enrolled in kindergarten for the 2023-2024 school year. 

Students who were part of the LAPS Preschool program who are enrolling in kindergarten for the 2023-2024 school year may enroll as returning students for the kindergarten enrollment. 

Kindergarten Roundup will be held Wednesday, April 12 at each elementary site.
