COUNTY News:

The community is invited to learn about how tourism trends are impacting the Los Alamos economy and what tourism stakeholders and leaders are planning at the Los Alamos Regional Tourism Economic Summit, 9-11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 25 at historic Fuller Lodge.

To register, click here and then click “Register Now.” The meeting is free and open to the public.

The Los Alamos summit is one of series of 10 meetings being convened throughout the state by the New Mexico Hospitality Association (NMHA) to discuss pressing issues and emerging opportunities impacting the tourism economy in our community. Grassroots feedback will lay the foundation for the New Mexico Hospitality Association’s advocacy priorities at Tourism Day in Santa Fe and will be presented at the association’s annual meeting in January 2018.

Los Alamos was selected as a destination that is already conducting efforts to fully embrace the tourism industry to grow and diversify its economy, with the brand action plan in implementation and a tourism strategic plan that is scheduled to go to Council for approval in early 2018.

The meeting will include a data-rich presentation by NMHA President and CEO Jen Schroer, including GRT, Lodgers’ Tax, jobs and other metrics attributed to Los Alamos’ tourism economy. Then, Los Alamos County’s economic development marketing specialist Kelly Stewart, as designated destination champion, will moderate a panel of the area’s tourism influencers including Bandelier National Monument Superintendent Jason Lott, Bradbury Science Museum Director Linda Deck, Los Alamos County Community Services Department Director Brian Brogan, Assistant to the County Manager and Project Manager for the Tourism Strategic Planning effort and the Manhattan Project National Historical Park Linda Matteson, and TOURISM Santa Fe Director of Marketing Cynthia Delgado.

Once the panel discussion has concluded, the public will have the opportunity to participate.
