NHCC News:
ALBUQUERQUE — The Recuerda a César Chávez Committee has officially postponed the following events, the César Chávez Marcha and Fiesta, the Dedication of the Dolores Huerta Street Name Change and the Dolores Huerta Day of Service.
This decision came with great difficulty, but the health and safety of our community and families comes first. The RCCC Executive Members worked with our Coordinators and Advisory Members, including Diana Montoya from Las Mujeres, in regards to what our next steps will be and what we need to work on to coordinate this postponement.
We are working with City and County Officials, the National Hispanic Cultural Center (NHCC), and our greater community to ensure a coordinated response.
As of March 13, we were informed by the National Hispanic Cultural Center Liaison that all of their events have been postponed until April 9, 2020 or until further notice, which includes our event. We have also been informed that Dolores Huerta has cancelled all of her engagements indefinitely. The City and County have also cancelled large public events which falls in line with the Declaration of our Governor.
Therefore, we have postponed our events scheduled for March 27-28, 2020. We are currently working to see when our events will be rescheduled, but at this time, nothing will be determined until a later date. More info will follow as it becomes available.
Thank you for your patience. We will keep you informed as time goes on. Please contact us if you have any questions.
