  • Liddie Martinez will join the Regional Development Corporation as executive director Jan. 4, 2016

ESPANOLA—The Regional Development Corporation (RDC) recently named Liddie Martinez as its incoming executive director. She succeeds Kathy Keith, who assumed the role of director of Community Programs at Los Alamos National Laboratory in August.

“The RDC is excited to see what Liddie will bring to the organization and the regional economy as a whole,” said RDC Board of Directors Chair Jennifer Jenkins. “We believe we’ve found a strong leader. The board and staff look forward to building upon partnerships we’ve already created, as well as forming new alliances with Liddie’s help to boost growth in northern New Mexico.”

Martinez previously served as division director of Community & Economic Development for SOC Los Alamos, LANL’s protective force subcontractor. While at SOC, she also managed the company’s Government and Public Relations Division and spearheaded a comprehensive philanthropic plan that invested almost $6 million in northern New Mexico. She also led a scholarship program for high school students that awarded $200,000 to promising regional scholars, funded by the SOC Corporate Division.

A native of the Española Valley, Martinez has committed her professional life to workforce development, community investment and education initiatives that positively impact the lives of northern New Mexico citizens. For the past three years, she has worked with the LANL Major Subcontractors Consortium, the Regional Coalition of LANL Communities and the New Mexico Congressional Delegation in Washington, D.C. to advocate for federal policy change in national procurement strategy that currently shifts local purchasing out of state to national contractors.

Martinez has served as president of both the LANL Foundation and Leadership New Mexico, and is president of the LANL Major Subcontractors Consortium and the Northern New Mexico College Foundation Board. Additionally, she is an active board member of the Los Alamos Commerce and Development Corporation and Think New Mexico.

Alongside her professional pursuits, Martinez is committed to preservation of the land. She testified before the U.S. Congress in 1998 in support of designating El Camino Real de Tierra Adentro as a National Historic Trail. She assisted in the development of the trail’s comprehensive management plan, and worked on the international committee advocating for World Heritage status (granted August 2010). She served as president of the Camino Real International Board of Directors for 10 years. She lives in Hernandez on her family farm with her husband Rick.
