PURGATORY News:

DURANGO, Colo. — Following a historic 2018-19 ski season, Purgatory Resort announces its summer operating schedule.

Purgatory is the ideal summertime destination with over a dozen on-mountain activities, pleasant temperatures and breathtaking views.

Available year round, the new Inferno Mountain Coaster is a family friendly thrill ride with incredible mountain vistas. At nearly 1 mile long (4,000 feet), the Inferno features a 300 foot-vertical drop, nine switchbacks and one loop. Riders have full control of the brakes and speeds up to 25 mph, so it’s easy to choose the pace of your adventure.

Two of Purgatory’s most popular attractions, the Alpine Slide and Air Bag Jump, opened Saturday, June 15. There is endless adventure at Purgatory this summer with over a dozen family friendly activities, from treasure panning and watersports on Twilight Lake to ropes courses, mini golf, ziplines, scenic chairlift rides, and much more.

Purgatory’s Bike Park is scheduled to open this weekend with the Divinity Downhill Flow Trail, Durango’s only lift-served downhill mountain bike flow trail. With lingering snow above 10,000 feet, additional trails will open on a rolling basis as conditions permit. Visit the Bike Trail Report tab for other open trails, and Trails 2000 for over 400 miles of singletrack and backcountry trails around Purgatory and Durango.

Purgatory is known for producing a wide array of signature events and festivals throughout the summer. There is something for everyone to enjoy, from the Carve Wars chainsaw art competition and the Muck and Mire Adventure Race to summer brews, wine, and mushroom hunting. New this season, Purgatory will also host the Trail Party Enduro Race and Mountain Archery Festival. Visit purgatoryresort.com/events/ for the full summer lineup.

New this season, Purgatory’s day ticket grants unlimited access to a variety of attractions, plus bonus sample activities. While the day ticket is the best value for everyone from thrill seekers to families, Purgatory offers summer season passes and single tickets as well. Purgatory is open daily from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m, June 15 – Aug. 18, 2019, plus Saturdays and Sundays, Aug. 24 – Oct. 13, and Labor Day.
