Purgatory Celebrates Spring With New Festivities & More Fun On The Slopes

DURANGO, Colo. Purgatory Resort has many great events, festivities and activities for all ages throughout the rest of March, with the biggest party of the season scheduled for Saturday, March 31 with pond skimming and a free Aerosmith tribute band concert.  
 
Purgatory is open daily through April 1 with lifts turning 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. After April 1, Purgatory will be open weekends (Fridays through Sundays) as conditions allow. For more information on operations, visit the website, skiPurg.com.

 

Ski-Easter Celebration – March 24

 
Purgatory kicks off Easter week with an Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, March 24. At 10 a.m., kids of all ages will hunt for eggs on the tubing hill in the Columbine Area. For skiing and snowboarding kids, the on-mountain Easter Egg Hunt starts at 11:15 a.m., in the Animas City Adventure Park. The park is a mini-village with small (beginner) terrain features. Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory will provide delicious chocolate 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the bottom of the trail El Diablo. Enjoy complimentary Durango Joe’s coffee and hot cocoa on the ski beach. This event is sponsored by the River Church in Durango. For details, visit the website.
 
Locals Benefit Day – March 25
 
Purchase lift tickets online, 48-hours in advance and save! Lift tickets are $45 adults, $32 teens & seniors, and $25 kids. A portion of the ticket sales benefits the Durango Arts Center, Garden Project of SW Colorado, Grief Center of SW Colorado, and La Plata Youth Services. Demo the latest skis or snowboards for only $10 – which benefits the four non-profits. For information, visit skiPurg.com
 
 
Pond Skimming is back at Purgatory Resort for the second year in a row. Head to Purgatory and celebrate with this classic springtime favorite event of the season with Ska Brewing, Red Bull and a DJ spinning the tunes! Space is limited to the first 100 individuals to sign up. Prizes will be given for the best skim, the best wipeout, and best costumes! 
 
The ultimate tribute to Aerosmith is coming to Purgatory, Mar. 31, performing classics such as “Walk this Way,” “Sweet Emotion,” and “Toys,” to current hits like “Dude Looks Like a Lady,” “Jaded” and more. Rounding out the celebratory weekend on Sunday, April 1, don’t be a fool and miss a fun party hosted by Steamworks Brewing on the PowderhouseDeck. Head to the Powderhouse 11 a.m. to 1 p.m, for more  fun on the slopes.
