Today Is National Nurses Day!

American Nurses Association News:

Today is National Nurses Day and marks the beginning of National Nurses Week, which ends May 12 on Florence Nightingale’s birthday.

The nursing profession has been supported and promoted by the American Nurses Association (ANA) since 1896. Each of ANA’s state and territorial nurses associations promotes the nursing profession at the state and regional levels. Each conducts celebrations on these dates to recognize the contributions that nurses and nursing make to the community.

Travel Lane At 20th And Oppenheimer Has Reopened

COUNTY News:

Los Alamos County Gas Crews finished up at 6 p.m. today and opened the lane at 20th Street to Oppenheimer Drive.

After temporarily closing a section of Trinity Drive, from 20th Street to Oppenheimer Drive, due to gas line break around 2 p.m. today, Trinity Drive is now reopened to traffic.

The section of the Trinity Drive was closed when a New Mexico Department of Transportation contractor inadvertently struck a 4-inch gas line while excavating a sink hole near Ashley Pond.

SANTA FE – New Mexico state health officials have announced this afternoon 153 additional positive tests for COVID-19.

Los Alamos County remains at 6 cases that have tested positive for COVID-19.

Today’s update includes 7 additional deaths in New Mexico related to COVID-19

Per the state Department of Health, the most recent cases are:

  • 18 new cases in Bernalillo County
  • 1 new case in Catron County
  • 8 new cases in Cibola County
  • 3 new cases in Curry County
  • 7 new cases in Doña Ana County
  • 2 new cases in Lea County
  • 63 new cases in McKinley County
  • 1 new case in Otero County
  • 1 new case in Roosevelt
