Los Alamos Daily Post’s Kirsten Laskey and Nate Limback were honored with state writing and photography awards by the New Mexico Press Association. The announcement was made during the New Mexico Press Association’s annual convention in November in Albuquerque.

Laskey was honored for her review of the Los Alamos Little Theatre’s production Myths and Moonbows Celebrates Youth. To read her full review, click here).

The judges commented that, “Kirsten Laskey’s review was extremely well done, featuring not only an overview of the production but on-point takeaways and well-placed individual callouts. It’s exactly the kind of content you want to find in your community newspaper.”

Laskey has worked for the Post for nearly a decade and was recently promoted to managing editor.

“Writing and storytelling have always been things that I love. I realized journalism was my dream career in high school when I wrote an article as a class assignment, and despite occasionally veering away from it throughout my working life, I have always been fortunate to find my way back to reporting,” Laskey said. “Working for the Los Alamos Daily Post is the biggest honor and privilege; I feel extremely lucky to go to work for it every day and to be able to work with such a phenomenal team of people, especially Owner and Publisher Carol Clark.”

Limback has taken photos for the Post for seven years. See his award-winning photo below.

Judges commended the composition, excitement, and dedication of the athletes captured in the photo.

“I’m incredibly honored to have been nominated for this award. Photography has always been a passion of mine, and the ability to freeze a moment in time that captures intensity, passion, and excitement is truly rewarding,” Limback said. “It has been a pleasure working with my colleagues at the Daily Post and individuals within the community, and I look forward to being part of this team for many more years to come.”

All of us here at the Post are very proud of Laskey and Limback for receiving this statewide recognition, highlighting their excellent work.
