Born in Bulgaria, Rado Georgiev, CFA, moved to Los Alamos in 2005 after serving in the Bulgarian Navy. He secured an internship at The Family YMCA. After one year he returned to Bulgaria to marry his longtime sweetheart Lyuba and brought her back to Los Alamos. Lyuba became a teacher at Ponderosa Montessori in White Rock and the couple now have a 7-year-old son Daniel who was born at Los Alamos Medical Center.

Georgiev spent nine years in financial management at the Y. In 2014, he accepted a position with Los Alamos National Bank (now Enterprise Bank & Trust) as Internal Auditor. Within 18 months he moved into the Wealth Management Department and is now a Senior Vice President, Portfolio Manager.

“The best thing about my job is that I get to help people make the right financial decisions … it makes me happy to see the impact we make on their lives,” he said.

Georgiev explained that his primary job is to develop models that find profitable investments and build client portfolios.

“I manage risk and return so the biggest challenge is finding the time to do everything I want to do,” he said. “Something I really appreciate with the Enterprise-LANB merger is we have increased the number of highly educated analysts on our team. Another thing I appreciate in being on the Enterprise team is that the attention to our clients is very personalized … we are of the size of a regional bank now and yet we maintain that small community bank feel.”

Georgiev added that he likes being on the Enterprise Bank team because it “promotes integrity and has a balanced culture”.

“We are not extreme one way or the other,” he said.

Enterprise Bank & Trust Regional President Liddie Martinez spoke about Georgiev.

“I have known Rado for more than a decade. He is reliable, trustworthy and strategic, exactly the traits you need in a Portfolio Manager and Financial Planner,” Martinez said. “He is dedicated to his clients and listens to their goals to craft the best possible financial strategy for their success. We are so proud to have him on our team and in our community.”

Georgiev said that his parents are both engineers in Bulgaria but he went into finance and holds a Master’s Degree in Economics majoring in Finance from the University of Economics in Varna, Bulgaria. He also is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA). Becoming a charterholder exemplifies a strong understanding of advanced investment analysis and portfolio management, he said.

In his free time, Georgiev and his wife and son spend time traveling and enjoying the outdoors. He is also dedicated to teaching his son to become a responsible fisherman and hunter.

“My wife and I grew up along the coast of the Black Sea so we really love the water and anything with a beach, and now our son does, too,” Georgiev said.
