Los Alamos County staff have been hard at work at Piñon Park Pool, in White Rock, and are happy to announce its opening date of Saturday, May 23, 2026!
Piñon Park Pool is open to the public, and Los Alamos County Aquatic Center pass holders can also utilize the facility.
The Piñon Pool Association previously ran Piñon Pool; however, they closed the facility in 2025 due to a lack of memberships. Los Alamos County reached out to the owner of the property, Attack Research, and secured a lease in February 2026 to operate the pool from May 2026 to October 2026.
Piñon Park Pool will have the following hours and schedule for the summer of 2026:
- Monday – Friday, 7 a.m.–7 p.m.
- o 7–9 a.m. Lap swim, 6 lanes
- o 6–7 p.m. Lap swim, 6 lanes
- Saturday, 9 a.m.–5 p.m.
There will be no lap swimming on Saturdays. Additionally, please note that the Leisure Lagoon will be closed on Saturdays and federally observed holidays in order to fully staff Piñon Park Pool.
Piñon Park Pool will be open on Memorial Day, Monday, May 25, 2026, from 1–5 p.m.
Additionally, the Leisure Lagoon remains open with the following hours and schedule:
- Monday, Wednesday, Friday
- 9–11 a.m. Fitness Classes
- 11 a.m.–7 p.m. General Public and Swim Lessons
- Tuesday and Thursday
- 9 a.m.–7 p.m. General Public and Swim Lessons

Furthermore, the Olympic Pool replaster project is progressing well and is currently on schedule. All the old plaster has been removed, with no major issues found with the foundation of the pool, and new tile has begun to be installed. Crews have also removed the old handrails and are working on installing new ones. Further information about this project can be found on the Olympic Pool Re-Plaster Project webpage.
