Pig & Fig Café, Beef & Leaf Café, And Sugar & Cream Café Partner With NM Junior Foodies To Support LA Cares Amid Rising Food Insecurity

COMMUNITY News:

As many Los Alamos residents face food insecurity and financial hardship due to government furloughs, layoffs, and the reduction of food benefits, three local favorites—Pig & Fig Café, Beef & Leaf Café, and Sugar & Cream Café—are partnering with New Mexico Junior Foodies to support LA Cares, an independent, 100% volunteer organization providing food and assistance to those in need throughout Los Alamos County.

The restaurants are collecting grocery store gift cards and direct donations to benefit LA Cares. To make every contribution go further, the cafés have pledged to match every dollar donated up to $5,000.

As a token of appreciation, donors will receive a restaurant e-gift card worth 10% of their donation as a thank-you for their generosity.

Community members can participate in two ways:

  • Drop off grocery store gift cards at any Pig & Fig Café, Beef & Leaf Café, or Sugar & Cream Café location.
  • Donate directly through our Square link.

“Food is our love language—and this initiative is about feeding both body and spirit,” chef/owner Laura Crucet said. “We’re honored to support LA Cares and give back to the community that has always supported us.”

Every donation—large or small—helps LA Cares continue its mission to serve those struggling to put food on the table. LA Cares is funded solely through community donations and staffed entirely by volunteers dedicated to helping Los Alamos residents in need.
