Pianist Chenxing Huang To Perform Nov. 1 At Fuller Lodge

The Los Alamos Arts Council (LAAC) has announced pianist Chenxing Huang for the Daytime Performance Series concert noon to 1 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 1 in the Pajarito Room of Fuller Lodge.

LAAC hosts a concert on the first Wednesday of every month featuring a curated slate of musicians, performers and speakers. These are free to the public and all ages are welcome.

Chenxing will play several pieces in the hour-long concert including compositions by Claude Debussy, Frederic Chopin, Franz Liszt and modern composer Zhao Zhang.

Chenxing Huang, an award-winning Chinese pianist, has captivated audiences across the United States, Europe, and Asia. In her recent season, Chenxing performed a solo recital at the esteemed Dame Myra Hess Memorial Concert Series in Chicago, which was broadcast on 98.7 WFMT. She was invited as the “Artist-in-Residence” at the Porto Pianofest in Portugal. Chenxing gave solo recitals in central Paris, at the invitation of the President of the Association of Polish Artists & Musicians in France, with proceeds donated to aid refugees of the Russo-Ukrainian war.

Chenxing’s musical journey has taken her to renowned venues worldwide, including Carnegie Hall, Steinway Hall (NYC), Viennese Hall (Salzburg), Bibliotheque Polonaise de Paris, Vouleftikon – First Parliament of Greece, Beijing Concert Hall, and Shanghai Oriental Arts Center. She also appeared as the soloist in the Xiamen-Taiwan Cultural Exchange and embarked on a performance tour in Taiwan. Chenxing’s chamber groups have delivered captivating appearances at festivals such as the Pablo Casals Chamber Music Festival and Musical Odyssey.

Acclaimed for her “remarkable intensity of expression” by pianist Fou Ts’ong, she has been recognized as a laureate in international competitions including the Concours Ile-de-France, Concours Musical de France, Artist Presentation Society Competition (USA), Paderewski International Competition (USA), Krystian Tkaczewski International Piano Competition (Poland), Bradshaw & Buono International Competition (USA), and New York Piano Festival & Competition. Notably, she was honored with the President’s Prize for “Best Chopin Interpretation” by the Association of Polish Artists & Musicians in France. In addition, she received the “Best Debussy Performance Prize” from both the IBLA Foundation and the Metropolitan International Piano Competition.

Chenxing holds a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in piano performance with program honors from Northwestern University, an Artist Diploma, and a Master of Music degree from Yale University. She achieved the highest admission score to the piano department at the Shanghai Conservatory of Music, where she earned her bachelor’s degree. Chenxing Huang’s formative years unfolded on the beautiful South Chinese island of “Gulangyu”, renowned as a “music island”, where her passion for classical music took root and flourished. In addition to her musical pursuits, she has founded an international fundraising endeavor that combines her love for music and animals. Through benefit recitals centered around an animal-centric theme, she raises funds and awareness for homeless animals, underscoring her dedication to making a positive impact beyond the concert stage. Her upcoming recital season promises an exciting lineup of performances in Chicago, Santa Fe, Los Alamos, New York, Paris, Canada, Portugal and China.
