Mia the Meatball’s idea of rodent control is watching a mouse from the couch and hoping it trips. Mia is a particularly plump purrbaby … her jelly belly muffin top actually dragged on the ground when she arrived at Española Humane, but with careful calorie restriction and a high fiber diet, she is slowly starting to shrink the chunk trunk. While her feline fanny-pack doesn’t touch the floor anymore, she’s still having a hard time grooming herself, which is upsetting for fastidious floofs, and her weight loss journey will need to continue, one paw in front of the other. ‘Progress’ we tell her, ‘not perfection’. Seven-year-old Mia is a sweet and easygoing girl who gets along famously with others – feline and canine. She embodies a Buddha-like calm and would make a wonderful companion for anyone willing to give her the TLC and daily wellness affirmations she deserves. Our hearts have melted while witnessing Frida’s epic transformation from fearful to frolicsome. When Frida first arrived, this marshmallow moonbeam wasn’t sure that people had good intentions. With some patience and sweet talking – and some cheese – Frida has had a personality glow-up! This once-skittish sweetheart is now a certified wiggle worm. Her tail wags like a windshield wiper in a monsoon, and she greets everyone with playful pounces and a smile that makes everyone stop what they’re doing and reciprocate with their own smile. Frida loves to fetch & frolic in the play yard, and she’s also discovered the joy of zoomies. From cowering to cuddling, she’s blossomed into the playful pup she was always meant to be. Frida is 11 months old and a fun-size 48 lbs.; she goes home spayed, vaccinated, microchipped and with six months of free heartworm prevention.
