Pets Of The Week: Meet Betty And Mia

Meet Best in Show Betty! At 9 years old, going on two, Betty will be the star of the Española Humane PetSmart ‘Adopt Joy’ event from noon to 3 p.m. this Friday in Santa Fe. For the past few weeks, Betty has been shining in the Española Humane Fosters in the Pen program at the Penitentiary of New Mexico, learning leash skills, polishing her manners, and mastering cues with her dedicated inmate foster. She’s crate trained, house trained, loves people, and enjoys other dogs. Whip-smart, full of personality, and still packed with sparkle, Betty is the complete package. Her entire incarcerated foster team is cheering for the happy new beginning they’ve worked so hard for — Betty finding a family of her own. Come meet Betty Friday and be ready to fall in love. Applications can also be submitted in advance on the Española Humane website. Española Humane is open to walk-in adopters 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Saturday, at 108 Hamm Parkway in Española. Visit www.espanolahumane.org. Courtesy/EH

Mia would like everyone to know she has once again submitted her daily one-star Google review of her accommodations. Complaints include: delayed room service, insufficient throne upgrades, and staff repeatedly interrupting her royal schedule with things like ‘adoption photos’. This 9-year-old, 7-pound queen has many opinions – and she shares every single one of them. Her signature one-ear tip conveniently flips backward to keep her crown in place, because obviously royalty requires practical accessories. Mia is not looking for a home. Mia is looking for loyal subjects, a kingdom to rule, and the throne she rightfully deserves. We’re simply taking applications on her behalf. Española Humane is open to walk-in adopters 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Saturday, at 108 Hamm Parkway in Española. Visit www.espanolahumane.org. Courtesy/EH
