Pets Of The Week: Meet Benz & Rooster Cogburn

Benz needs her daily affirmations to remind her that she’s brave, she’s worthy of love, it’s ok to make a mistake and that she’s a very fancy little Mercedes. Benz is ready to have an amazing day, but you could make it amazing-er by giving her a forever family. Benz is just an itty bitty thang, too – just 27 lbs. at five months old – and this sweetly shy girl is spayed, vaccinated, microchipped and goes home with six months of free heartworm prevention. Española Humane is open to walk-in adopters 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday. Visit www.espanolahumane.org. Courtesy/EH

Rooster Cogburn has some ‘True Grit’. This big handsome buckaroo has lived the Wild West lifestyle and seen some hard days – he was found in the dusty desert with a punctured cornea, a crooked ear and other wounds. Rooster said, ‘You should have seen the other guy!’ Fortunately Rooster found his ace in the hole at the Española Humane shelter where doc removed that damaged, painful eye and fixed his wounds, and now he’s ready for a fresh start – and retirement inside! Rooster goes home neutered, vaccinated, microchipped and his fee is waived. Española Humane is open to walk-in adopters 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday.
