Pets Of The Week: Benson And Binx

Splash! That’s the sound of Benson making himself the life of the party. This lovable goof recently showed off his social skills poolside, making friends with every dog he met and proving that his biggest talent—aside from cuddling—is winning over absolutely everyone in sight. Benson is getting ready to be “paw-roled” from our Paws in the Pen program at the Penitentiary of New Mexico, where he’s spent eight weeks polishing his manners, learning new skills, and perfecting his signature full-body cuddle lean. At just 1 year old and 59 pounds, this boxer mix is built for adventures, road trips, hikes, pool parties, and any activity that ends with belly rubs. He loves people, loves other dogs, and still firmly believes he’s lap-dog sized. Benson is ready to dive headfirst into his forever home. Apply on our website to schedule a meet and greet! Española Humane is open to walk-in adopters 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Saturday, at 108 Hamm Parkway in Española. Visit www.espanolahumane.org. Courtesy/EH

Binx was trapped under suspicion of being feral. Binx would like the record to show this was a clerical error. From inside the trap came a steady stream of complaints, demands, and strongly worded requests for love. She wasn’t plotting life in the wild—she was filing grievances about customer service. Now safely indoors, this 2-year-old tuxedo girl spends her days collecting affection, supervising humans, and telling us that some cats aren’t born to be wild, they’re born to be adored. Binx is ready to trade her temporary accommodations for a forever staff. Española Humane is open to walk-in adopters 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Saturday, at 108 Hamm Parkway in Española.
