Pets Of The week: Ashley Ann And Brinda

Ashley Ann treats every day like it already has plans for the two of you. This 8-year-old, 70-pound glamour girl is a live action hair product commercial, and she doesn’t just go on walks—she headlines them. She is a slow-motion shampoo ad wind-in-the-mane moment. Nose to the breeze, tail in constant approval, always checking in to make sure you’re coming too, because you are, without question, her favorite part of any outing. Ashley Ann has a gift for making life feel a little more alive. She’s currently heartworm positive, but that doesn’t define her story or slow her down from finding her person. She can be adopted now and continue treatment (at no cost to her adopter!) in a home where she belongs! Española Humane is open to walk-in adopters 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Saturday, at 108 Hamm Parkway in Española. Visit www.espanolahumane.org. Courtesy/EH

Brinda comes from the hoarding case discovered during the Lindy’s Diner building collapse. Her start was crowded, loud in its own way, an environment where a cat learns to watch first, trust later. She is 3 years old, 11 pounds, and built for softness and sweetness—not chaos. She prefers predictability over surprise, quiet over stimulation, and a home that understands that healing has its own timeline. Here at the shelter, she’s found something she didn’t always have before: space to breathe, and people and other cats who feel familiar enough that she doesn’t have to explain herself. She offers us nose boops and tortilla-making paws, purrs and belly flops. A calm feline companion in her future home wouldn’t just be a bonus for her—it would feel like language she already speaks. Brinda isn’t asking to be the center of anything. She’s looking for the edges of a life where she can safely exist, stretch out, make some muffins, and learn your home one quiet day at a time. Española Humane is open to walk-in adopters 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Saturday, at 108 Hamm Parkway in Española. Visit www.espanolahumane.org. Courtesy/EH
