Pet Parade Kicks Off Halloweekend In Los Alamos

The Halloweekend Pet Costume Parade is set to march down Central Avenue, rain or shine, 5:30 p.m. today.

Formerly known as the “Wiener Parade”, the Pet Parade is now more socially inclusive and open to all pets. Interested participants should meet at the elephant statue on the north side of Ashley Pond at 5:15 p.m. Please only bring pets that are crowd-friendly and on a leash. Be sure to clean up after your pets! Judging for “Best Costume” will take place on Central Avenue and will be awarded immediately.

Other Halloweekend events taking place at Central Avenue on Friday include a performance by Dance Arts Los Alamos that will start at 4:30 p.m., followed by the High Flyers Gymnastics at 5 p.m. After the Pet Costume Parade at 5:30 p.m., New Mexico Dance Theater will perform at 6 p.m. Find a complete event list at losalamosmainstreet.com.

Other Halloweekend activities include Trick-or-Treating at Los Alamos Medical Center from 3-5 p.m. High Tech Halloween at the Bradbury Science Museum 4- 6:30 p.m. and the Costume Climb 6-8 p.m. at the YMCA.

Festivities will continue Saturday, Oct. 31 with pumpkin carving 10 a.m. to noon at the Smith’s Marketplace. The Masquerade Recital is 3:30 p.m. at Fuller Lodge. The Los Alamos Arts Council will host the Pumpkin Glow 6-9 p.m. on the lawn at Fuller Lodge. The Oscar Mayer Wienermobile will be onsite 6-8 p.m. at the Pumpkin Glow. Los Alamos MainStreet will provide entertainment 6:30-9 p.m. by The Nomads inside Fuller Lodge.
