SHELTER News:

Simba, 18, suffers from unknown medical issues. The Los Alamos Animal Shelter is working to diagnose Simba’s condition.

Most other shelters would look at her condition and her age and put her to sleep, but the local shelter is adamant about saving euthanasia for true end-of-life cases and Simba isn’t there yet.

Do you love old cats? Do you want to do a good deed? Simba needs a loving home to care for her for whatever time she has left. Call 505.470.6973.

The Los Alamos Animal Shelter, 226 East Road, 505.662.8179, has a great selection of adoptable pets; see the Petfinder website for photos here. For information about volunteering, adopting and donating and learning more about special needs animals and cats and dogs in foster care, visit www.lafos.org.

All adoptable pets are micro-chipped, spayed or neutered, and have up-to-date on vaccinations. Shelter hours are noon to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturdays and noon to 3 p.m. Sundays.
