Ista the Huskey. Coutesy photo
SHELTER News:
Ista is a beautiful red and cream Alaska husky spayed female. She is nine months old. She was originally obtained from a breeder with two of her littermates.
She needs a tall fence, as a four-foot fence is well within her jumping skills. She is also reported to have some excavation skills, so she will need a dig-proof fence.
Ista is very friendly with adults, gentle children and dogs. She chases cats. Ista is of the perfect age and temperament to start obedience classes with her new family.
The Shelter, 226 East Road, (505) 662-8179, has a large selection of adoptable pets.
Be aware that the Los Alamos Animal Shelter is NOT a no-kill shelter … it does have a nice selection of animals, but there is currently not room for them all.
Check out the Petfinder page for photos and to learn more about the adoptable pets at http://www.petfinder.com/shelters/friendsoftheshelter.html.
All adoptable pets are micro-chipped, spayed or neutered, and up-to-date on vaccinations.
Check out the Shelter’s new website at www.lafos.org, for information about volunteering, adopting and donating, read up on some favorite animals and learn more about special needs animals and cats and dogs in foster care.
NEW SHELTER HOURS: The LAC Shelter is open noon to 6 p.m. Monday thru Friday and 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. weekends.
Note: More entries for the 2014 Shelter Alumnae Calendar are needed. Find the entry from at www.lafos.org.
