The Pajarito Environmental Education Center would like to thank the Rotary Club of Los Alamos for their generous donation toward our Nature Play Area. PEEC is embarking on a major project to revamp and upgrade our nature play area for the littlest children, and the Rotary Club’s donation will get us started on this exciting venture.
We hope to add a water play feature, a sensory play area, an obstacle course, an amphitheater area for group programs, and much more. The nature play area will be unlike any other play lot in Los Alamos, and will provide plenty of opportunities for the unstructured play that is so valuable for healthy intellectual development.
The American Academy of Pediatrics has said, “The outdoors presents marvelous opportunities for parents to interact with their children in a fashion that fosters both the development of the relationship and the child. The great outdoors can move children away from the passive entertainment of computers and TV and into an interactive forum that engages both mind and body.”
The Los Alamos Nature Center’s nature play area will provide these opportunities. Thanks to Rotary of Los Alamos for getting us started!
