PEEC News:
The Pajarito Environmental Education Center (PEEC) extends heartfelt thanks to the community for celebrating 25 years throughout the month of April—and especially at the 25th Anniversary Earth Day Festival Saturday, April 26. Over 1,800 people joined for the festivities, making it one of PEEC’s most well-attended events!
This year’s Earth Day celebration was a special milestone, kicking off with a 25th Anniversary Ribbon Cutting Ceremony and official proclamation in partnership with the Los Alamos Chamber of Commerce and Los Alamos County. PEEC is grateful for the support and recognition from local leaders, community partners, and longtime friends.
This spring, PEEC hosted a variety of programs and special events honoring 25 years of environmental education and community connection on the Pajarito Plateau. The month-long celebration highlighted PEEC’s mission to strengthen people’s connections to our canyons, mesas, mountains, and skies.
“We are incredibly proud of all PEEC has accomplished over the past 25 years,” PEEC’s Executive Director Jillian Rubio said. “This anniversary is a tribute to our history and the remarkable individuals who have shaped our journey. But it’s not just about looking back—it’s about looking ahead to the next 25 years of environmental stewardship, education, and collaboration.”
PEEC thanks the many volunteers, sponsors, staff, and partners who made these events possible. Most of all, thank you to the community—for showing up, sharing stories, and celebrating nature.
