PEEC: Snowshoe & Cross-Country Ski Adventure Feb. 15

The Pajarito Environmental Education Center (PEEC) and the Los Alamos Mountaineers (LAM) invite outdoor enthusiasts to a snowshoe and cross-country ski outing from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 15, 2025. This 4.5-mile intermediate trek offers stunning views along the East Fork of the Jemez River, starting from the Las Conchas trailhead and ending at the East Fork trailhead, with about 800 feet of elevation gain.

Details:

  • Admission: $4–$10 (member/non-member, individual/family rates)
  • Meet at: Los Alamos Nature Center (8:30 a.m. for gear borrowing; 9 a.m. departure)
  • Gear: Bring your own snowshoes/skis or rent snowshoes from PEEC (limited availability)

Led by Los Alamos Mountaineer Zack Baker, this adventure is best for those with prior snowshoeing or skiing experience. Weather permitting, snowshoes/skis will be used; otherwise, it will convert to a winter hike.
