PEEC News:

Created by Pajarito Environmental Education Center (PEEC) and Los Luceros Historic Site, the New Mexico Outdoor Pass (NMOP) is a FREE booklet included with FREE community events for families where everyone gets rewarded for spending time outside. Participate in this activity and get a stamp for your New Mexico Outdoor Pass booklet. Fill your book with stamps and you’ll be rewarded with prizes.

Join us for an NMOP special event: Insects!, at 9 a.m., Sunday, Sept. 4. During this insect-themed day at Los Luceros Historic Site (253 County Road 41, Alcalde), you’ll enjoy a tour of their grounds, make arts and crafts, and have an opportunity to see lots of different insects up close (9-11 a.m. for the insect portion of the event). This is the perfect Sunday outing for you and your family!

Schedule of events:

  • 6 a.m. – Los Luceros opens early for Dawn to Dusk Day. Take a nice walk on the property in the early morning. Crafts will be available all day.
  • 9-11 a.m. – Catch insects in the air and water with insect experts and work together to identify what we find!
  • 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. – Ranger-led tour of the Los Luceros historic district, with a particular focus on the importance of insects at the site.
  • 7:30 p.m. – Los Luceros closes.

Special thanks to our sponsors for making this program possible: Clif Family Foundation, N3B, and the Outdoor Equity Fund.
