Enjoy a delicious meal inspired by a Black Bear’s diet catered by Pig + Fig Café. The menu will feature smoked salmon bites, stuffed mushrooms, sweet weeds, dirt cups, trash can punch and more bear-y delicious food! Attendees will also receive two drink tickets from Pajarito Brewpub & Grill. Before the meal, PEEC staff members will give a short talk chronicling a year in the life of a Black Bear, with a special emphasis on this mammal’s diet.
To address COVID-19, Pig + Fig will make every attempt to plate and serve food in separate, single-serve containers to reduce the risk of cross-contamination. Where possible, eating utensils will be composted after the event. Tables will be spaced out on the patio outside at the Los Alamos Nature Center for diners to spread out and sit in small groups. Masks must be worn while inside the nature center.
Guests have the option to stay after dinner to watch a screening of Werner Herzog’s documentary “Grizzly Man” in the nature center’s planetarium. The film chronicles the life and death of bear enthusiast Timothy Treadwell. It is rated R for language and violence and is not meant for kids. Drinks will be available from Pajarito Brewpub through a cash bar during the film as well. Guests can choose to stay for both the dinner and movie, just the dinner or arrive later for only the movie.
Advance registration is required for this event at peecnature.org/events. Admission is $55/non-member and $45/PEEC member for both the dinner and movie. Tickets are $50/non-member and $40/PEEC member for the dinner only and $8 for the movie only.
