PEEC News:
Are you a bird enthusiast, or are ready to learn more about our avian friends? PEEC invites all bird enthusiasts to participate in a unique birding experience this at 7 a.m., Sunday, April 7 led by local birders Mary Parsaca and Mary Orr.
This event takes place during Dawn ‘til Dusk Days at the Los Luceros Historic Site, and happens on the first Sunday of every month. PEEC will continue these special birding walks every month throughout the fall season. This event offers both novice and experienced birders the opportunity to explore the vast old-growth cottonwoods and Rio Grande habitat and encounter new bird species.
Located in Alcalde, Los Luceros Historic Site is home to over 152 species and was once nominated as an Audubon Important Bird Area (IBA). The cultural site is a remarkable representation of New Mexico's rich history and breathtaking landscapes.
The event is open to the public, and admission is free! Participants should bring binoculars, a camera (optional), snacks, and water. A limited number of binoculars will be available for use.
The birding walk is limited to only 15 participants, so be sure to register soon.
