Pancho Villa And Modernization During The Mexican Revolution Online Lecture May 7

DCA News:

Join Brandon Morgan, author of “Raid and Reconciliation: Pancho Villa, Modernization, and Violence in the U.S.-Mexico Borderlands” for an ONLINE lecture as part of the Friends of History monthly lecture series 12–1 p.m., Wednesday, May 7.

This month’s Friends of History First Wednesday Lecture Series features a presentation about the book “Raid and Reconciliation,” by Brandon Morgan. He examines the story of Pancho Villa’s 1916 raid on Columbus, New Mexico, and shows that violence was integral to the modern capitalist development that shaped the border. Morgan also offers new insights into the Mexican Revolution and sheds light on the connections between violence and modernization. Lessons from this border story continue to resonate into today’s debates about the US-Mexico borderlands.
