Pajarito Trail Fest Draws More Than 100 Runners

PAJARITO TRAIL FEST News:

More than 100 runners participated in the 6th Annual Pajarito Trail Fest held Saturday at Pajarito Mountain. Sunshine, early fall colors and re-built trails awaited runners for a fine day of running.

Runners from as far as Estes Park, Colo., and Silver City came to run the challenging course. Children had fun as well, with the Toddler 100-yard dash and Big Kid Challenge 1 Km trail run.

The 10 K winner for men was Nathaniel Gustafson of Los Alamos, who finished in 50:25. Women’s 10 K winner was Elizabeth Turner of Albuquerque who finished in 1:06:42.

In the 15-mile race, Michael Ehrmentraut from Santa Fe finished first with a time of 2:08:07 while Sara DeMay was a top 15-mile female finisher with 2:42:07.

The Fest was concluded with a Duathlon Sunday, in which 13 participants competed in a Mountain Bike and Run event.
