Governor Orders Flags To Half-Staff In Honor Of New Mexico State Sen. John Arthur Smith

STATE News:

SANTA FE — Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham has ordered all flags in the state of New Mexico to be flown at half-staff in honor of former state senator John Arthur Smith, who passed away Oct. 7.

Flags will be lowered from sunrise Oct. 18 until sundown Oct. 21. 

Smith served the people of New Mexico for over three decades, representing District 35—which includes Dona Ana, Hidalgo, Luna and Sierra counties—from 1989 until his retirement in 2020. County Social Services Office To Be Closed Thursday

The Los Alamos County Social Services Division at 1183 Diamond Drive, Suite E will be closed Thursday, Oct. 17, due to parking lot construction.

This Saturday, Oct. 19, marks one full year of our ongoing peaceful protest for peace in Palestine. Without missing a single Saturday, we have been raising awareness for this cause. Typically, we protest on Trinity Drive for 30 minutes before moving to Central Avenue for about an hour.  

However, this Saturday, we will be protesting 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. exclusively on Central Avenue.

Record-Breaking Success For The Food Depot’s 2024 Neighbor To Neighbor Fund Drive

SANTA FE — The Food Depot’s 2024 Neighbor to Neighbor Campaign announced the results of its 13th annual summer fund drive this week, raising a record-breaking $482,440.

This impressive total surpassed the campaign’s goal of $400,000. These funds will help provide approximately 1.9 million meals through The Food Depot’s programs and partners across Northern New Mexico.
