The owner of the new Subway undergoing renovations in downtown Los Alamos told the Los Alamos Daily Post a few minutes ago that he will definitely open for business March 15.

“The drywall is up, the plumbing is complete and the electrical system is 80 percent done,” owner Larry Singh said. “We’ve got our refrigerator and freezer and all our equipment and tables and chairs, which will be installed as soon as the new flooring arrives and is installed.”

Singh explained that the renovations underway since early summer have been extensive in the former Don Taylor Photography space just east of 15th Street. He added that the restaurant will be nicer overall with higher upgrades than his previous Subway.

Singh’s first Subway restaurant in Los Alamos was across the street in the space facing Iris Street, behind the former Otowi Book Store. Singh closed that operation early last summer and began renovating the more visible location on Central Avenue.

“Let the community know that we will open the new Subway March 15,” Singh said. “We’ll have seating for 62 people and will serve breakfast, lunch and dinner and be open seven days a week.”

The restaurant was scheduled to open in September and then January, but Singh said the higher upgrades have accounted for the delay.
