Bryce Avenue Presbyterian News:
A biblical definition of “pure religion” is “to visit orphans and widows in their distress, and to keep oneself unstained by the world”. (James 1:27).
This Sunday, Nov. 11, along with remembering and thanking all Veterans for their service, Bryce Avenue Presbyterian Church will celebrate as the theme of the 10:20 a.m. worship service, the doctrine of adoption.
The congregation joins with hundreds of others in recognizing, encouraging and celebrating adoption on “Orphan Sunday”.
Orphan Sunday is a ministry of the Christian Alliance for Orphans (www.cafo.org). The organization defines this Sunday’s special emphasis in this way: “One Day. One Voice. One Purpose. On Orphan Sunday, Christians stand for the orphan. We are a people called to defend the fatherless … to care for the child who has no family … to visit orphans in their distress. Sermons and small groups, concerts and prayer gatherings, shared meals and youth activities — each rousing believers with God’s call to care for the orphan and what we can do in response.”
Everyone is invited to join BAPC in this wonderful celebration of God’s great grace and kindness: “…but you have received a spirit of adoption as sons by which we cry out, “Abba! Father!” Romans 8:15b
