Open World Leadership Center Official Here for Russian Visit

District 43 Rep. Jim Hall, R-Los Alamos, Santa Fe and Sandoval counties is participating in a tour with a group of visiting Russians scheduled at the Roundhouse in Santa Fe at 9 a.m., June 13 followed by a meeting at 10 a.m. with Gov. Susana Martinez.

Lawry Mann of the Los Alamos-Sarov Sister Cities organization announced that Maura Shelden, the head of public relations for the Open World Leadership Center in Washington, D.C. will travel to the area for the event.

Mann reported that Shelden said her organization wants to use the Los Alamos exchange program as a “poster child” for their Center.

The Russians also are scheduled for meetings in Los Alamos.

The mission of the Open World Leadership Center is, “To enhance understanding and capabilities for cooperation between the United States and the countries of Eurasia by developing a network of leaders in the region who have gained significant, firsthand exposure to America’s democratic, accountable government and its free-market system.
