White Rock
Be Forewarned … the signs of N.M. 4 work beginning 5/28/26. It actually started today 5/29/26. The state is repaving. That’s great! HOWEVER, do they EVER plan for a temporary lane? What about Emergency Response events?
With only one road in and out of White Rock (without going through the Jemez, or possessing a LANL badge), this is not just inconvenient, it is dangerous and not well planned for.
May I remind the community, we are currently at a Stage 2 FIRE RESTRICTION! Judging from my sitting at a standstill this morning (9:20 a.m.), what provisions have been made to enable passage through this corridor? Emergencies or daily commuting for all of Los Alamos County and commuters, deliveries, etc.
This is NOT just an inconvenience, this is a potential problem just waiting to happen!
I realize this is a State funded project, but can Los Alamos County interject in these necessities? Like, right now, adding a temporary lane?
I also realize this is an age old problem with this one major road coming in/out of White Rock.
**County Council: PLEASE make this an urgent priority for the community and all involved.
By a Frustrated WR resident, who had to forgo a much needed medical appointment because of the absolute standstill!
