On the job in Los Alamos is UbiQD Chief Financial Officer Tony Beams, left, chatting last week with UbiQD CEO Hunter McDaniel at the company’s headquarters at 134 Eastgate Drive. Beams joined the global quantum dot technology company as Director of Finance in December 2024 and was promoted to CFO last June. In speaking about his position, Beams said, ‘What excites me most about the CFO role at UbiQD is the opportunity to draw on my prior senior finance leadership in technology-driven agriculture and optical manufacturing to help advance the company’s work in sustainable farming and clean-energy materials. I particularly look forward to applying lessons from my time at Plenty and AppHarvest to support UbiQD’s mission of making quantum dots ubiquitous.’ Beams’ career spans 25 years across optical products manufacturing, investment banking, digital content delivery, and most recently, controlled environment agriculture. For the last 12 years, Beams has focused on leading Finance teams at technology-based early-stage ventures and supporting Executive teams navigate financial markets and improve operational capabilities. His educational background includes a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of California at Berkeley and a Masters of Business Administration from New York University’s Stern School of Business.
