About High Mesa Dental Arts:
Dr. Reed Canon of High Mesa Dental Arts recently discussed the advantages of the new technology offered at both Los Alamos and White Rock locations.
High Mesa Dental Arts now provides CEREC®, a high-tech dental device that allows the patient to go from diagnosis to walking out of the office with their new crown in place, all in the same day.
CEREC is an acronym for the Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramic or Ceramic Reconstruction. It uses the CAD/CAM or “Computer Aided Design” and “Computer Aided Manufacturing” technology to create the CEREC crown in just one visit.
This cutting-edge digital mapping technology charts the inside of the mouth and takes a computer image of the tooth with great detail and accuracy. The optical impression is then processed with the CEREC 3D software. The software then converts it into a 3D model, which the dentist will use to design the custom dental crown.
The final 3D model is sent to the CEREC milling machine, which carves the new dental crown from a ceramic block. In approximately 10-20 minutes the all-ceramic tooth colored restoration is completed and ready to bond in place.
The entire procedure is completed without the need of a second visit. The quality of the results is the same as the laboratory-generated restoration and the cost is the same as a traditional crown.
Dentists at High Mesa Dental Arts include Dr. Laura Heisch, Dr. David Gartz and Dr. Reed Cannon.
