COUNTY News:

Albuquerque-based independent comic creators 7000 BC is hosting a free artist’s workshop and lecture at Mesa Public Library 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 10.

The workshop will be offered both in person and online, so attendees can choose to participate in the format they’re most comfortable with. Appropriate for teens and adults.

This workshop is from 7000 BC’s Between the Panels series in which comic-themed topics are presented and explored in a fun and educational setting. This session is titled The Gestalt of It All and will examine how monsters have shaped the evolution of comics and the industry at large over the last century. Attendees will have the opportunity to put their pens to the page and will even learn strategies for tackling their own inner monsters— you know, those that get in the way of creative potential and productivity!

7000 BC is a nonprofit organization providing opportunities throughout Northern New Mexico for comic writers and artists to develop their personal styles and storytelling voices while promoting an understanding of the cultural significance of comic art through seminars and workshops. Their high-quality programs are supported by the National Endowment for the Humanities and the New Mexico Humanities Council.

Those who would like to attend this free workshop (either in person or online), should register through the event calendar at LosAlamosLibrary.org or call the library’s main line. In-person attendees will meet in the upper-level conference room at Mesa Public Library, and online attendees will receive a Zoom link for the livestream event. This program is made possible by Friends of Los Alamos County Libraries.
