VIRGINIA MAE KLEBESADEL June 11, 1938 – June 1, 2023

Virginia Mae Klebesadel (née Erckfritz), age 84, of Albuquerque, New Mexico, passed away on June 1, 2023.

Born in Alden Township near Harvard, Illinois on June 11, 1938, Virginia lived on a farm and was educated in a one-room schoolhouse until she moved to Sharon, Wisconsin in 1950. After graduating from Sharon High School in 1956, she earned her bachelor’s degree from Wisconsin State College-Whitewater.

Married in 1959 to Ray Klebesadel of Shawano, Wisconsin, they moved to Los Alamos, New Mexico in 1960. They raised their family in El Valle de Arroyo Seco near Española, New Mexico from 1965.

As owner of a consignment gift shop in the 1970s, Virginia loved meeting local artists and craftspeople from all over northern New Mexico and loved sharing New Mexico culture with patrons. In the mid-1980s she began a long career as a Manicurist in Los Alamos. Nails Plus was appropriately named because for her it was about connecting with and taking care of people, which she continued even after relocating to Albuquerque.

Passionate about community involvement throughout her life, she served on the board and as president of Taylor Ranch Neighborhood Association and was appointed as the community representative on Albuquerque’s Environmental Planning Committee. She joined Achievements, Inc., in 2007 and was responsible for Human Resources as the company grew and merged with Bright Horizons, Inc. She retired in June 2020.

Virginia is preceded in death by her father, Lester Erckfritz; mother, Bertha Rutledge Erckfritz Schuld; brother, James Erckfritz; grandson, Billy Klebesadel; and great-grandson, Justus Baca.

She is survived by her children William (and Karen Lee) Klebesadel, Lawrence Klebesadel, RayeAnn (and Lorenz “Richie”) Spangler, and James Klebesadel; eight grandchildren and twenty great-grandchildren.

Services will be held in Albuquerque on Tuesday, June 6, 2023. Please refer to  www.frenchfunerals.com/listings for time and location.
