SPENCER WHAYNE HILL Dec. 24, 1954 – June 19, 2016
St. George, Utah – Spencer Whayne Hill, 61, passed away peacefully at home, following a nine month battle with brain cancer, on Sunday, June 19, 2016.
He was born December 24, 1954 in Cherry Point, NC to Whayne Bryson Hill and Loma Louise Gracey-Buck Hill. Following his LDS mission to Puerto Rico, and while attending BYU, he married Pamela Jean Stephenson in the Salt Lake Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on September 14, 1978. They were blessed with 5 lovely children.
Over the years, Spencer’s employment has taken his family to different locations across North America. He worked for Peterson Builders, Inc. (Sturgeon Bay, WI), Los Alamos National Laboratory (Los Alamos, NM), BlackBerry (Waterloo, ON, Canada), and Neptune and Company, Inc. (Denver, CO).
His great interests included working with the Boy Scouts of America and Sports, especially the Green Bay Packers and BYU Cougars. He served faithfully in many church callings throughout his life and showed by the life he lived that he had a great testimony of the Lord, Jesus Christ.
He is survived by his wife, Pamela Hill (St George, UT), their children Christine (William) Grigg of Nashville, TN, Julie (Scott) Nielson of Payson, UT, Melanie Hill of Colorado Springs, CO, Stephen (Erin) Hill of Provo, UT, and Ryan Hill of St. George, UT, by 11 grandchildren: Kaylee, Camille, Charlotte, and Camden Grigg, Wesley, Olivia, Halle, Annabelle, Garrett and Clara Nielson, and Hailey Hill. He is also survived by his stepmother, Mary Johnson Hill of Lehi, UT and his 5 siblings: Lisa (Harvey) Moss of Jacksonville, FL, Craig Hill of Las Vegas, NV, Kevin (Rachel) Hill of Draper, UT, Mona (Paul) Sinclair of Zionsville, IN, and Roger (Dawn) Hill of Alpine, UT.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Loma Hill, and by his father, Whayne Hill.
There will be a viewing from 9:30 to 10:30 on Wednesday, June 22, 2016 at the East Ridge ward chapel of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (912 So.1740 E. St. George, UT 84790). Interment will take place at Tonaquint Cemetery.
