PEGGY JOHNECE HOISINGTON May 24, 1956 – Aug. 7, 2024

Peggy “PJ” Hoisington passed away unexpectedly but peacefully in Albuquerque at the Lovelace Heart Hospital on August 7, 2024, at the age of 68, surrounded by her husband and family.

PJ was born in Lubbock, Texas May 24, 1956. As a young girl she moved to Albuquerque, NM where she lived with her parents, Edward and Joyce Clay and 3 siblings. PJ graduated from Albuquerque’s Valley High School in 1974. She was a cheerleader, a member of the Glee Club and a Honor Roll Student. She later attended Cosmetology school and upon graduation she moved to Taos, NM where she owned a Beauty Salon. Over the next 14 years, she raised her daughter Kimberlee and twin sons Cory and Brandon.

In 1994 she made Los Alamos her new home. Two short years later she met her “Sexy Cowboy” and soul mate, Dee Hoisington. It was meant to be and they married in 2000 blending their families, adding children, Michael and Billy Whiteside.

PJ never met a stranger that she didn’t befriend. She loved all animals, especially horses and lovingly cared for many dogs throughout her life.  She enjoyed skiing and volunteered with the Pajarito Ski Hill Special Olympics. A homebody at heart, she could be found sitting on her front porch, watching her hummingbirds at their feeders while taking in all the scenic beauty that is Los Alamos. PJ absolutely loved living in Los Alamos, right up until her passing. PJ also loved adventures. She and Dee enjoyed several ocean cruises. She and her Cowboy were known to scoot a boot wherever good music was playing. They were often seen two stepping across the floor at the Posse Shack and Elks Lodge where she was a member for 18 years.

Like her mother, PJ was an avid Dallas Cowboy fan, attending many games in person. She was known to enjoy a visit to the local Casinos now and then, as well as vacationing in Laughlin and Las Vegas, Nevada. She loved her scratchers and a good slot machine.  Being outgoing, PJ developed many close friends in her lifetime. She loved to get together with her girlfriends to play card and board games. She especially enjoyed getting out of town and camping with her best friend, Trish Sandoval.

PJ was never afraid of hard work and retired from the Los Alamos Smith’s Food and Drug store and from Kleen-Tech at Los Alamos National Laboratory.

She is preceded in death by her parents Joyce and Edward “Pete” Clay.

She is survived by the love of her life, her husband, Dee Hoisington, daughter Kimberlee Struck (Julian), sons Cory Struck, Brandon Struck (Tiffany), Michael Whiteside (Adri), and Billy Whiteside. Brothers, Calvin Clay (Lori), Larry Clay (Debbie). Sister, Rebecca Clay. Grandchildren Brandi Kori, Elizabeth Joyce, Julian John, Jordan Rayes, Bennie Jay, Enrique Michael, Cailyn, Greyson, Shelby, Raven and Quinn.  Great grandchildren, Rihana, Noah, and Serena … and not to be excluded, her beloved pup and faithful companion, Tatiana.

The family has entrusted the care of their loved one to Berardinelli Family Funeral Service. Please share memories, photos, and condolences for the family at www.berardinellifuneralhome.com.

A celebration of life to be announced at a later date.
