PATRICIA ANN LUNDQUIST GRALL Nov. 22, 1939 – July 20, 2024
Patricia “Pat” Ann Lundquist Grall, born Nov. 22, 1939, in Longview, WA, passed away peacefully at the age of 84 Saturday, July 20, 2024, in Rio Rancho, NM, with her son and daughter by her side.
Pat was preceded in death by her son Richard “Rick” Erick Grall, her parents Robert Eric Lundquist and Anna Lois Timmen, and her sister Sally Templeton.
She is survived by her daughter Stacey Lutz of Plano, TX, her son Russ Grall of Oahu, HI, her grandson Hayden Lutz of Grand Prairie, TX, her twin brother Paul Lundquist of Tacoma, WA, and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family who loved her dearly.
Raised in Washington state, Pat attended Stadium High School in Tacoma, WA, where she played the clarinet in the marching band and was a member of the girls’ synchronized swimming team. After high school, she attended college in Bellingham, WA. During the summers, she worked at Mount Rainier with her best friend Joni and once had to be rescued by the Washington Forest Service after a hike up to Pinnacle Peak.
During her marriage to Robert Grall, Pat lived in various states, including Washington, Alaska, New Jersey, and Minnesota, before settling in Los Alamos, NM. The family eventually made their home in White Rock, where Pat lived for the remainder of her life.
In addition to raising her children, Pat worked as a school bus driver and later for the Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL), where she retired in 2006 after 30 years of dedicated service. She cherished her job at LANL and the close friendships she formed there, maintaining them over the years.
Pat had a deep love for the mountains, the outdoors, and nature. She enjoyed camping with family and friends across the United States and Mexico, often bringing along canoes and motorcycles for added fun. Pat loved spending time with loved ones, especially when it involved green chili and a margarita or two. She was fiercely independent and lived in her home in White Rock until the last two months of her life when she moved to assisted living in Albuquerque.
An animal lover, Pat was especially fond of cats and had many throughout her life. In her later years, she gave homes to Ginger, Peanut, Winston, Maddie, and finally Golden, who she adopted from the Los Alamos Animal Shelter.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, July 25, at Guaje Pines Cemetery, 901 Range Road in Los Alamos. Pat will be laid to rest next to her beloved son Rick.
Pat will be greatly missed by her family and friends. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Los Alamos Animal Shelter at 226 East Road, Los Alamos, NM 87544.
