Nell Reed Will passed away on January 15, 2023, at the age of 98, at her home in Sebastian, Florida, surrounded by loved ones. She was a caring and devoted mother, grandmother, wife, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend.
Nellie was born in Clayton, New Mexico, in 1924 to Harry and Cleofas Reed. Her indomitable spirit and resilient nature were due in part to the historic events she experienced firsthand, including the Great Depression, the Dust Bowl, and losing her brother Jack during battle in World War II, all before Nell had graduated from high school.
Nell attended college at New Mexico State University and continued her studies many years later at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. She met and married her husband Edward Will in the 1950s in Los Alamos, New Mexico, when they were working together at the Los Alamos National Laboratory. They had three children, Edward Jr., Jack, and Candice.
Nell was active throughout her life in politics (a former Democratic County Chairman), civic activities (a past president of the Little League and local Boy Scouts chapter), as well as school and church functions. She was an extrovert who loved to travel, hike, golf, play cards, and bake.
Nell was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, Edward. She is survived by her sons Ed (Belen, NM) and Jack (Sebastian, FL), daughter Candice (Bethesda, MD), and grandson Edward (Lausanne, Switzerland) to whom she was completely devoted and overly indulgent. She is also survived by many loving nephews, nieces, and dear friends, too numerous to mention by name and all of whom she enjoyed and loved.
In lieu of donations or flowers, Nell would have wanted her friends and family to take a nice walk in her memory or look up at the stars under a dark night sky. She often commented that people were too focused on their televisions and electronic gadgets rather than the simple beauty of nature.
