MYRNA JOY STRONG April 16, 1938 – Jan. 21, 2024

Myrna Joy Strong, born on April 16, 1938, left this world on January 21, 2024, surrounded by the love of her family. She was a remarkable soul who touched the lives of many with her kindness, warmth, and boundless love.

Myrna entered a lifelong journey with her beloved husband, Ronald Strong, on March 7, 1959, creating a union that stood the test of time. Together, they shared countless adventures, exploring the beauty of life side by side. Myrna’s joy for life was evident in her love for skiing, camping, jeeping, backpacking, and RVing. Her spirit for adventure was unmatched, and her infectious enthusiasm left a lasting impact on all who knew her.

A dedicated mother, Myrna was blessed with two children, Mark and Carrie.  Tom Haluza, her son-in-law, became a cherished addition to the family, and together, they created a close-knit and loving extended family. Myrna’s pride and joy were her grandchildren, Keaton and Marin, who were the recipients of her nurturing love and wisdom, and many visits to SeaWorld and UCSD Aquarium.

Myrna’s professional journey started as an LPN,  progressing to RN and BSRN. This progression of skills demonstrated her caring nature and commitment to helping others. She worked at LAMC for 25 years. Beyond her career, she was also an artist, expressing her creativity through various forms including painting and quilting. Her artistic spirit mirrored her adventurous spirit, with experiences like rafting the Grand Canyon, skiing in the Alps, and seeing Stonehenge on the summer solstice.   She also visited the Artic Circle and felt permafrost on the summer solstice when on an RV trip to Alaska.  She shared these vibrant chapters of her life story with her family and fellow kindred spirits, including Louise Locke who met Myrna in the first grade and remained a lifelong friend.

Those who had the privilege of knowing Myrna will forever remember her as a kind, warm, and loving individual. Her fun-loving nature and adventurous spirit were nothing short of amazing. Myrna’s legacy lives on in the hearts of all who were touched by her presence, and the memories of her joyous laughter and radiant smile will be cherished for years to come.

As we bid farewell to Myrna Joy Strong, let us celebrate the incredible life she lived and the love she generously shared with everyone around her. May her spirit continue to inspire us to embrace life with the same passion and enthusiasm that defined her remarkable journey.

She is survived by Husband Ronald of Los Alamos, Son Mark of Los Alamos, Daughter Carrie Haluza (Tom) of Poway, CA, Grandson Keaton Haluza of Poway, CA and Granddaughter Marin Haluza of Boulder, CO.

A memorial service will be held at United Church of Los Alamos on Saturday, March 9th at 11 am. Donations in her memory may be made to the United Church of Los Alamos Memorial Fund, American Heart Association, or any other charity of your liking.
