MARIE (SCHOPPY) SCHELBERG

Marie (Schoppy) Schelberg, long time resident of Los Alamos, died October 20, 2023. She was born on March 25, 1925, in Locust Gap, Pennsylvania.

Marie worked in the Locust Gap Post Office starting in 1947 and became Postmaster in 1962. She retired in 1985. Marie then moved to Los Alamos to help care for her sister. In 1989 she married Arthur Schelberg. They spent their remaining years in Los Alamos.

Marie enjoyed knitting and was a member of the Prayer Shawl Group at IHM. She delighted in watching the birds and wildlife that visited her deck.

There will be a viewing at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church at 10:00 AM, Monday, October 30th. A rosary will follow at 10:30 AM with Mass at 11:00 AM. There will be a reception in the Parish Hall after mass. Burial will follow at Guaje Pines Cemetery.

The family would like to thank the staff of Home Instead and the parishioners of IHM for their friendship, support and companionship over the years.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Los Alamos County Animal Shelter or Cottonwood Wildlife Rehab Center in Española.
